Case Study: Multicultural Teams

Explain how culture can affect perceptions of team members in a group.

People from different cultures have a predefined way of doing things, and when they meet in a multicultural workplace, there are differences experienced. The differences in cultures affect one’s perception of others and the general working. For example, Western cultures have a culture of individualism, thus have trouble gaining the perspective of other people’s points. The Chinese, on the other hand, is based on a collectivist culture hence are more adept in understanding the perspective of other people. Different cultures also develop different levels of interdependence in working environments and in the perception of social obligations, and this understanding will affect how people relate within the setting (Vandaveer, 2012). Some cultures are also skeptical of others while others are more accepting of other people; it, therefore, determines how a person is accommodating/trusting of other people.

Discuss strategies for working with leaders or team members who originate from a different culture than you.

Working with a team of different cultures requires one to adapt to a communication style and use an expression that will accommodate everyone. Open communication should allow everyone to give their opinion and access all information about the team or job. The team should also accept and accommodate the different working styles of the team members. The working environment should mic both individual efforts, paternalistic guidance, and group work (Vandaveer, 2012). In leading the group, the leaders should accommodate all types of motivation factors for their team members.  A conclusive reward system that includes bonuses, career progression, increments in salary, job satisfaction, recognition, among others, should be used. Leading the team would also require listening actively, getting to understands everyone and their cultures, and building rapport and trust.

Expound on the significance of using the best type of verbiage to communicate with other members of a team in order to prove successful in task completion.

It requires a certain level of skill o properly communicate with people from different cultures, and verbiage comes in handy. First off, it requires one to eliminate any forms of slang that belong to a certain culture to ensure that everyone is at par (Chhetry, 2020). A language that has courtesy and respect is also comfortable to all cultures, and thus one needs to adopt this. Slowing down when speaking allows for those who are not native speakers to have time to interpret what you say. One should avoid using dual meaning words as it also creates confusion for non-natives. Verbiage is, therefore, important in getting everyone to understand, despite their level of the grasp of the language.

Share the benefits of connecting with humor to build team camaraderie.

Humor breaks the ice between team members and improves the rapport a leader has with the members. Therefore, it should be an integral part of team activities. When a team member or leader gets the right humor for the team, it opens up the team members, and they are able to work together without the bottlenecks of multiculturalism. It is, however, paramount that one approaches humor with moderation as different cultures have their sense of humor, and one might offend the other cultures (Engelhard & Holtbrügge, 2017).

Explain how personality traits, social factors, and styles of leadership can affect the competence and loyalty of a team member.

Different personalities produce an effect on a team and thus affect its dynamics. Self-confident people take charge and organize others; the diplomatic ones focus on relationships, detail-oriented ones ensure observance of rules, imaginative one brings creativity, and cautious ones insist on proving ideas, among others (Engelhard & Holtbrügge, 2017). Therefore, these traits influence their competence within the team. Social factors affect the relationship people have with each other within the team. When these factors ensure that the members feel appreciated and that their concerns are met, they perform better. The converse is true. Different cultures appreciate a different type of leadership. Individualistic cultures appreciate an open form of leadership, while collectivist cultures appreciate paternalistic leadership. Therefore, with each type of style, a person would perform better when this favors them.

Determine the different career options an employee might consider when having trouble working with a cohort or leader of a department.

Murder Case Study

Name at least five different types of evidence needed to prove the guilt of the defendant in the case selected.

Physical evidence

This is a form of tangible evidence used within the crime scene (Norton, & Nagel, 2011). The most prominent piece of physical evidence within the Case Study is the .22 caliber automatic gun used for the shooting and its bullet. Once the body of the victim is taken in for autopsy, they find a bullet which upon examination is identified to belong to a .22 caliber gun. The bullet, therefore, fits into the class evidence type because it only belongs to a specific class of guns.  The .22 caliber gun is also found with the suspect when he is stopped with Trooper Jackson. When found, the trooper also notices the odor of gun powder, which indicated the gun had been used recently. The wife of the suspect also identified that his husband owned the .22 caliber gun. All these physical evidence points towards the gun being the primary murder tool. Since the evidence points ownership to the suspect, he is prime to have committed the crime.

The second form of physical evidence present within the case is the old white Chevy. All the three witnesses interviewed about the crime scene stated that the criminal got into an old white Chevy and left, southbound. Although this car is found Westbound, it bears the same characteristics as the one described by the witnesses. The car is driven at high speed and within the same care, is a very nervous driver who owns a .22caliber gun with the odor of gun powder. This care, therefore, is an important piece of evidence as it is the gateway vehicle and would be important in tying the murder to the suspect.

Direct Evidence

Eyewitness accounts provide an important piece of direct information that is used or identified (Norton, & Nagel, 2011). The direct evidence within this crime is the three eyewitnesses of the crime within the crime. Officer uses the right procedure to interview the three different witnesses separately. One of the witnesses, a younger black woman, provides detailed information, but the other two provide information that the suspect was a young white man with long hair and no beard. All of the three, however, agree with the fact that the suspect left in an old white Chevy. This two-piece of evidence was instrumental in making even the arrest. Their counts are, therefore, important pieces of information that will aid in making a case for the Investigation. The witnesses can be used within the case to provide testimonial evidence that includes identifying if the suspect arrested is the one who participated in the crime.

Trooper Jackson is also an important source of Direct evidence. He is the one who notices the old white Chevy in the interstate highway westbound at a speed of 85mph. He stopped the car and observed that the driver looks nervous. He asks the suspect to exit the vehicle, and when he stands up, he notices a handgun sticking out from the driver’s seat. The suspect also fits the description of a young man, long hair without a bead. He then makes the arrest on the suspect for carrying a concealed weapon, after placing the suspect in the patrol car. He then comes back and observes the odor of gun powder from the handgun. He collects the gunpowder and treats it as evidence. He, therefore, provides important insight on the suspect, and this could be tied to the case in the form of testimonial evidence.

Forensic Evidence

Forensic evidence is one obtained through scientific methods such as ballistics, and it helps to prove guilt or innocence. A forensic examination is used within the case to identify the type of gun used within the crime scene (Firearms Examination, (n.d.)). Once the bullet in the victim is removed during the autopsy, it is taken for firearm forensics, where it is believed to have come off from a .22 caliber gun. The forensic report from this Investigation would be important to prove that the gun owned by the suspect was used for the crime.

Demonstrative Evidence

Several types of demonstrative evidence were collected within the case to indicate several segments of the Investigation. When Trooper Jackson identifies gun powder odor in the suspect’s car, he collects the gun powder to use as evidence. The presence of this simple would demonstrate the scenario of the gun having been used recently.  After the arrest of the suspect by Trooper Jackson, the evidence technician takes some photographs of the scene; these would be important to indicate the car, gun, and scene of the arrest. Several other documents collected within this scene would be used as demonstrative evidence for the identity of the suspect. The Autopsy report would demonstrate the cause of death.

Inculpatory Evidence

Inculpatrory evidence is one that creates a link between a suspect and a crime.  The suspect has several forms of inculpatory evidence that points towards him being the criminal who committed the murder and theft. Since he owns and has recently used a .22 caliber gun and the bullet in the victim’s body was that of the same gun, it points towards him. He also matched the description of two witnesses, and he was also driving a car that matched the description of all the three witnesses. When he was stopped by trooper Jackson, he was extremely nervous, and it sold him out as a suspect.  The wife of the suspect also points out that his husband owned a .2 caliber gun. Since all these evidence points towards this same person, it is inculpatory towards him. It would, therefore, important in creating a logical conclusion and convincing the jury about the suspect’s position within the crime.

Corroborative Evidence

Corroborative evidence is the type of evidence used to support the other types of evidence presented to the court. One of the corroborative evidence presents is from the suspect’s wife. After the suspect is found in possession of a .22 caliber gun, detective Fillmore goes to his house to gather more evidence. He questions the suspect’s wife, who releases information that he, in truth, owned such a gun. The police officer’s notes can also be accepted as corroborative evidence fro the Investigation. The records from the crime scenes, to the arrest by Trooper Jackson and the Investigation by detective Fillmore, had produced their notes. In this case, therefore, these can be used as corroborative evidence within the case. The witnesses provide matching information is some aspects. The two old witnesses provide a matching description of the suspect, and therefore their statements can be corroborative evidence of each other. All the witnesses also provide matching information on the gateway care; they, therefore, complement each other as corroborative evidence.

Hearsay Evidence

Hearsay evidence is the statement made by witnesses who were not present when the crime took place. These forms of evidence exist within this Investigation. A major one is by the wife of the suspect. When she is questioned by Officer Fillmore, she provides information that her husband has a .22 caliber gun, which was the same type as the one used within the crime. The co-owner of the convenience stores where the crime took place also provides hearsay evidence. The co-owner checked the cash bills in the cash drawer, realizing that they were all missing, and only coins were left, estimating the missing amount to be about $300. This evidence would prove that in addition to the murder, there was also a case of theft.

What issues may arise with the witnesses are given in the case selected?

The witnesses from the convenience store present a tough case because of their contradictions and vagueness. After interviewing the three witnesses separately, Officer Washington gets two somewhat different descriptions of the suspect they saw running out of the store after they hear the gunshot. Two witnesses who were in their sixties and black also gave a vague description of the suspect being a young white man with long hair and no beard. The other witness, a young black woman, gave a somewhat specific description, but it contradicts with the two witnesses.  The description by the two older witnesses of a young white man with long hair and no beard was the one used to make the arrest. It, therefore, meant that the description of the younger witness was in contradiction to the other part of the Investigation.

This contradictory story from the on witness will, therefore, bring into doubt the accounts given by the others (Trends, 2020). It would also indicate that they have been untruthful at one point within their witnessing. It will, therefore, overall discredit her as a proper witness of the case. In most US jurisdictions, the two witness rule is used to prove the witness’s statements. In this case, since two witnesses provided matching information, the third witness would not disqualify their evidence. Since the arrest was also made of a person who did not match the description of the younger witness, she may also change her statements to contradict what she had earlier said. In this case, she will make her statement weak, leading the jury to discredit her statement within the whole case (Trends, 2020).

How may hearsay be an issue in prosecuting the case selected?

Hearsay evidence is produced from information gathered from another party that is not witnessing in court about the trial. In this case, there are several witnesses who provide direct evidence and others who make an outside statement to the officers of the case. One of them is the Co-owner of the business, which comes in after the crime is complete. He makes a count on the register and identifies missing bills, which he estimates would be about $300 lost. His account is important in the case of identifying the suspect as both a thief and a murderer. If, in this case, this witness is not presented to the case and is used as a hearsay witness, then this account of the story would not be reflected properly within the case (Hearsay Evidence, 2019). The problem with hearsay, in this case, would be termed as a present tense impression that the co-owner of the business made. The court would also prefer a first-hand account of the story, and this wouldn’t be admissible in the court (Wodjacz, 2020).

The suspect’s wife is also interrogated by Detective Fillmore. Fillmore, within the interrogation, discovers that the suspect had a .22 caliber gun. In this case, the wife would have to provide her personal statement to prove this in court unless she wants to identify informer privilege. If she is not presented and acts as a hearsay witness, it would be a problem. The court will see the statement by detective Fillmore as a recount of an interview that was subject to his interpretation. It would, therefore, deteriorate the quality of the evidence. The court would also want to hear the information first hand give them a chance to gauge credibility (Hearsay Evidence, 2019). In this case, also, her being hearsay would provide a problem.

The three witnesses of the crime are the direct form of evidence, and their accounts are important within the case. Therefore, they should be present in the court to provide their statements, especially in the description and identification of the criminal. Trooper Jackson, Detective Fillmore, and Officer Washington also provide expert evidence within the case and are required all present within the case. These are vital witnesses and cannot be used as hearsay.

Which Privilege may be raised in the case selected?

In this case, having the wife of the suspect witnessing in the trial may raise some privilege concerns. Since the wife of the suspect provided a clue of the husband ownership of a .22 caliber gun, I may cause problems between the couple. In this case, therefore, she may raise the Identify of informer privilege.  This Privilege will grant her anonymity since the information she presents to the case is not significant in the defense and wouldn’t be influential in the guilt or innocence of the case. In this case, therefore, the interview she had with Detective Fillmore would be used as hearsay but wouldn’t reveal the source of information.

The suspect can also raise Privilege against self-incrimination. This Privilege is helped by a suspect in criminal prosecution and would protect him from any criminal liability (Lamberigts, 2016). Therefore, during the police investigation or when collecting the statements from the suspect, he can refuse to answer a question if he would think that the answer is self-incriminating. In both cases, the police and the court will have to respect the decision of the suspect and not probe further unless it appears that the evidence wouldn’t be incriminating. When this Privilege is raised, it protects the suspect from being forced to release information or provide a statement. Only physical evidence can be coerced of him.

What issues may be raised in a motion to suppress regarding evidence seized in the case selected?

Motion to suppress allows the suspect of the case to exclude some parts of the evidence room the trial if it was obtained illegally. In this case, therefore, an issue may arise in the suspect identification procedure that would suppress the evidence seized from the case. The identification process of the suspect in the car falls under the risk of misidentification (Cole, 2009). The description given by the two witnesses about the appearance of the suspect was vague. A young white man with long hair and no beard is a common look among the citizens. There is, therefore, it could represent a large population. There is, therefore, a high risk of misidentification. The suspect’s defense can present this motion; therefore, on this basis, and the prosecution should be prepared to answer the case according to the court’s considerations of the identification process. The court will therefore have to determine if the witnesses had the right amount of time to view and identify the suspect, their level of attention, the accuracy of their description, and their certainty of the description. Once these are analyzed, then the motion to suppress evidence may be used against the identification process by trooper Jackson.

What special issues should be addressed in preparing the case for trial?

Witnesses should be prepared before going for the trial as they present several issues.  The witnesses in the case are the ones who provide direct evidence of the case, and it is important to get them ready for the trial. Since they are witnesses obtained from the crime scenes, it is important to get their contact information and get them ready to testify within the case (Trial Preparation: What Happens in the Month Before Trial (n.d). They are the strongest chance to account for crime, shootings, and theft. Therefore, each one should be present and, more so, two of them that provide matching information. The case has three witnesses who agree on some information, but one contradicts the description of the suspect. The law in the country is keen on the two witness rule; the two older witnesses have to be present in the case.  Further, during the preparation of the witnesses, it is important to discuss with them what happened within the incident. It makes sure that if they have anything to add or deduct, it is properly captured as it would provide problems during cross-examinations (Preparing For A Trial, (n.d.).

The officers who carried out the Investigation and Trooper Jackson, who was directly involved in the case, would also be key witnesses. They will provide professional evidence, and therefore they should also be contacted and present for the case. The hearsay evidence from the wife and the co-owner of the business is also required to acquit the cline to the crime. The co-owner of the business should present at the case and, if not, his statement hearsay by Officer Washington, who was present when he spoke. It would, however, be more reliable if he is present at the case as hearsay evidence is not admissible in court but would guide the jury in their decision-making process (Wodjacz, 2020). The suspect’s wife will also provide hearsay evidence at the court through Detective Fillmore’s statements.

The preparation of the case should also look at other forms of evidence collected during the investigation. Physical evidence gathered through each stage of Investigation should be well prepared and present within the case either physically or through a report. The necessary reports, such as the autopsy, ballistics report, photographs of the crime scene should also accompany the physical evidence.

Career Goals for an MBA Program

Career Goals for an MBA Program

The business profession has provided me with varied experiences that have helped to shape up my ambitions. My first experience within the entrepreneurship field was during my campus period working at Corba Turkish Soup. Working within the streets of Istanbul allowed me to recognize an opportunity for a multicultural restaurant that could feed all the vibes of the different cultures represented. I, therefore, partnered with my boss to develop one Ankara Food court that sprang up quickly to productivity.  It was my first experience in managing a business from scratch and it was where I developed problem-solving skills, attention to detail, adaptation, and critical thinking which I would later apply in my business career. It was at this point also that I realized I loved experiencing different cultures, environments, and environments. I later sold the restaurant for a profit to concentrate on my new career after campus to concentrate on my business career.

My college and classroom experiences prepared me well for a career in commercial banking, financial brokerage, and a preamp into contribution consultation. Therefore, to me, working within the money markets and banking sector in Turkey was like the icing to my career cake. Little did I know that it was just the beginning of a wonderful adventure. I progressed rapidly and after a year, I was entrusted to managing a new project in the Credit Finance sections for groups. I also got a chance to consult with the highest-profile clients within the organization’s Financial Advisory Services Group. The environment was uncomfortable at first, requiring much adaptation, quick problem solving, and varied interactions. However, with my prior experience in an entrepreneurship role, I was able to push through effectively. What I enjoyed most in this role was the challenge of adaptation, challenging my knowledge, and working with other intelligent focused, and driven members of the organization. It was also at this point that I confirmed my desire to further my career in Business administration.

Enrolling for this MBA program is a stepping stone to my future goals within my career.  I hope to develop my financial analysis skills and work project and business management.  It will also provide me with a setting to meet people from different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences who upon interaction will improve my world view and enrich my experiences. I am more so excited about the practical research and real-life problem-solving exercises that will challenge me to probe more knowledge while also prespring me for real-life problems, Also getting information from skilled professors who also work as consultants I the market will be an elating experience.

My short-term goal after completion of the MBA program is to serve in project management or business development role in an international company with a focus in the emerging markets especially in the middle east and Asia. After having good exposure to multiculturalism in my entrepreneurship in Istanbul, I believe that I will be ready for this environment.  The global business environment is shifting towards emerging markets as they provide an opportunity for rapid growth. In my current state, I realize that I am limited in skills and theoretical background. The MBA program will therefore provide the theoretical base an opportunity to learn from the best professional and practical experiences that help in decision making in all business aspects. I will therefore leverage these academic and professional experiences to develop projects and business ventures for the organization to ensure that it competes successfully within the global marketplace.

In the role of a project or business development, I hope to rise within the ranks while traveling to different regions within the new world. I hope to work with several high-profile clients within these regions, converse and build a great network with them sell the company’s agenda to them. I also look forward to taking several short courses such as Global Business Course, International Business, and Global Internship to help improve my understanding of handling business in different regions in the world.

In the long run, I hope to develop into a consultancy role by being an international business consultant. With the prior experience working in different regions in the world, it would be an opportunity to convert these contacts into secondary. It will be an opportunity to give them insight on how to carry out business within different world regions after proper analysis of these markets. Globalization has been a key phenomenon in business within this generation and while many businesses have taken this opportunity seriously, many of them fail as early and the entry point. Much of the failure is attributed to lack of proper consultation and this is where I will chip in to provide solutions to these start-ups and bigger business and help them succeed in their venture.

Times are changing fast; this is clear from the current world’s dependence on international trade and commerce, something that couldn’t have been imagined 50 years ago. International trade is therefore an inevitable venture, just as it is inevitable to venture into this business without consultation and the services of a business and management professional. I would like to fill this niche and be a leader in this field.

Exercise Physiology

KHP 4474

Exercise Physiology

APPLIED ESSAY 2

Neuromuscular

(10 pts)

Describe in detail how a skeletal muscle contracts. Specifically, begin with the generation of a neural impulse in the motor cortex of the brain (i.e. excitation) and end with the attachment of myosin heads to the active sites on actin (i.e. contraction). How does a non-depolarizing muscle relaxant interfere (i.e. uncouple) with the process you just described?

Muscle activation – The motor nerve within the mind stimulates an impulse (action potential) which passes down through the neuron to the neuromuscular junction. The impulse, therefore, stimulates the sarcoplasmic reticulum to produce calcium into the cell muscle (Webb 207).

Muscle Contraction – calcium released in the cells floods the cell binding with the troponin thus allowing the actin and myosin to bind.  The actin and myosin bind and contract using the energy of ATP. ATP is the energy that is present in all cells and is used to fuel all cell activities.

Recharging – The used ATP is then re-synthesized thus giving a chance for the actin and myosin to hold their strong bonding state

Relaxation –  The relaxation starts to occur when the simulation by the nerves stops.  At this stage, the calcium is pumped back into the sarcoplasmic reticulum and at this point breaks the link between myosin and actin. Failure relaxation also can occur when. ATP is no longer available.

For the first time in many years, a person performs a strenuous resistance training workout involving a lot of squats and lunges, and two days later they are very sore, weak, and swollen. What has happened? Specifically, what type of muscle actions are most likely to blame for this?

This condition is called the delayed onset muscle soreness and it is caused by eccentric exercises which involve the extension of muscles and thus causing some small scale damage to the muscle fibers (Cheung, Patria, and Linda 2017). The eccentric exercises cause the contraction of muscles. After such a session of exercise, the muscles adapt quickly to reduce the damage caused to them It causes soreness of the body 24-72hrs after the exercise sessions.

On a tissue/cellular level what is thought to cause this? If they perform this same workout a few weeks later what may happen and what is this called?

The exercises rapture the microscopic lesions on the muscle sarcomere. The tissues lengthen and increase the tension forces on the t causing the actin and myosin bridged to separate before their relaxation time making the other units to experience more tension.

Doing the exercise after two weeks will not experience pain as initially. The exercises suppress the soreness This phenomenon is called exercise-induced analgesia.

DR. Seuss As a Modernist

Dr. Seuss, born as Theodor Seuss Geisel, was a German American cartoonist who found cultural relevance in the field of children literature and politics. His influence was immense and still is even the modern society and this earned him three Academy Awards in his lifetime (Nel 12). One of the traits associated with his works is the traits of modernism which was a movement that occurred within his time. This movement was characterized by a break from traditional methods by experimenting with newer forms of literary forms and modes of expression. Therefore, it was the start of imagism, futurism, symbolism, futurism, cubism, expressionism, Dada, and Surrealism. In the analysis of Dr. Seuss’s poems, it shows his courage in experimentation with new literary devices such as allegory, anthropomorphism, and symbolism which qualify him as a modernistic poet.

The Zode in the Road

The poem by Dr. Seuss speaks of a young Zode who comes to a conundrum when he finds a fork on the road and dos not know which one to take.  The things that one’s side may be too hot and the other cool, or one side higher and the other lower. He decides to play safe and thus start on both places at once (Stevenson et al. 14).

The poem exemplifies modernist qualities within its lines. It speaks of a creature called Zone, something not existent in real life. He doesn’t offer any explanation on the creature and the reader is left to determine the image that it would present. It, therefore, takes a strange depiction of reality. Unlike the traditional forms of poetry that used real, animate, or objects, these ones use a non-existent form of being. It fits therefore within the modernist society because it applies the experimentation that came within this age (Davis and Lee 10). In the experimentation, Dr, Seuss is original, rejects realism, and uses the mental images and feelings of the author. The image of Zode is also estranged from any form of religion, science, or social mechanisms. These qualities qualify Dr. Seuss’s works into literary modernism.

The poem also adopts another aspect of modernism which is Irony. The last two lines of the poem state, “And that’s how the Zode who would not take a chance, Got no place at all with a split in his pants.” Zode struggles in choosing a place to go, either one or two and at one point, he screams out loud because he thought had found a brilliant idea. The brilliant idea, in this case, was to walk on both roads which are now causing him to spill his pants causing an irony within the poem. The Literary style of irony was a form of experimentation style that was part of the modernism literature. Its use within this poem, therefore, shows that Dr. Seuss fits properly within this movement.

The poem also uses anthropomorphism in the entire story. Zode is not a real word that has a meaning in any scientific or English terms. It is therefore obviously a thing but it is never explicitly stated.  Dr. Seuss has not given it any attributes or stated any information that would provide a clue on what it is (Stevenson et al. 14). Through anthropomorphism, it is given the qualities of a human being: the ability to think, battle with decisions, walk, and even have pants. Anthropomorphism is a trait that spread fast at the start of the modernism era and its application The Zode on the Road implies his participation in the movement.

Green Eggs and Ham

Green Eggs and Ham is a popular poem by Dr. Suess that has sold over eight million copies but only contains 50 words. While the vocabulary is greatly limited,  it is a full story with a beginning and an end. The poem revolves around Sam who is pestering another about trying Green Eggs and Ham. After several lines of pestering, finally, the guy agrees to try the green eggs and ham. It, therefore, alludes to the lesson that while trying new things might be hard for some, it eventually is worth the effort. Despite the simplistic sense of the poem, Dr. Seuss presents some new literary methods within I that show the changes from the traditional methods.

The simplicity of the poem is the biggest form of modernism presented in the story. The traditional form of poetry would see this type of poetry as absurd, it consists of the repetition of the words but still manages to communicate. Simplicity is created through the use of repetition, Alliteration, apostrophe, and anaphora (Davis and Lee 10).  Alliteration occurs when he creates Ham and Sam together in succession. Anaphora is the repetition of words at the beginning of successive lines. The poem repeats this severally when he starts the lines with I am Sam.  Repetition at the end of the sentence is the Epistrophe which occurs with words such as where the fox and there. The simplicity is a trait associated with the modernism movement. New age poetry uses simple language and jargon. It however takes a regular form of rhyme schemes and looks like prose. This is the form of experimentation that was readily desired, no wonder this poem sold this much.

The poem also takes into account a deeper form of symbolism that appeals to everyone’s living conditions.  The Green Eggs and Ham are things that when taken into considerations may represent unpleasant situations in our lives. It, therefore, speaks about the struggle we have with trying new things, accepting change, and changing (Haught-Tromp 34). While in the end, it is a happy ending, we are not sure at the beginning and therefore we don’t want to take risks. The respondent in the poem does not at one point explain why he doesn’t want the green ham and eggs but is consistently rejecting the idea. And this is the symbolism that infers to our attitudes to a change and taking risks.

Dr. Seuss Also applies many allegories within the narrative. At first, there is a prosthetics arm that is used several times within the story. Sam offering the eggs is small and is raising the eggs and ham to a person much bigger than him (Haught-Tromp 34). The prosthetics arms are their n this case to raise the plate of the food.  The second prosthetic arm is holding the plate of eggs and ham In the second time however it is attached to the end of the fishing pole like contraption and Sam uses it to reel out and shoves the food to the big man for the first time. The use of allegory within the poem pinpoints its timing within the modernistic literary period.

Conclusion

Dr. Seuss is born, lives, and works within the 20th century which is also at the peak of modernistic literature. This movement is therefore present within his poems and depicts that he was part of it. He is not afraid to experiment with the new method and change from the traditional ones. He further used new devices such as allegory, symbolism, imagery, anthropomorphism to present his ideas to the readers. These devices and the extent of his experimentation in the poems “The Zode in the Road” and “The Green eggs and ham” prove clearly that Dr. Seuss is a modernistic poet.
